Is Fluid From The Penis Before Sex A Symptom Of An STD?

After 33 years of a monogamous marriage to my only sex partner, I am widowed. My husband was my only sex partner up until now. My new boyfriend has a lot of fluid coming from his penis BEFORE we actually have sex. Is this normal? Could it be a sign of an STD?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Fluid coming out of penile opening is not definitive for sexually transmitted disease (STD).
However, if the fluid appears to be infected - thick, pus like or there is associated rash on external genitalia or there is enlarged lymph node or lump nearby; there is possibility of STD.
On the contrary, it is usual to have increased penile discharge prior to onset of sexual activity.
Thus, it needs to be differentiated whether the discharge is just normal penile discharge or infected one.
You may consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment in case of any of the above mentioned risk factors are present.

Thanks and take care
