Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am booked to fly somewhere the day of a lumbar puncture to determine whether or not I might have Idiopathic Cerebral Hypertension. I am just wondering if it is safe to fly after having a lumbar puncture? I know people experience pretty severe headaches after the procedure; that s not really what I m asking though.. Any advice helps. Thanks!
Based on the history you have shared, you have recently got lumbar puncture done secondary to cerebral hypertension as the lumbar puncture is a treatment modality for such disease to release the pressure in the brain.
If you have spinal headache after procedure then you should wait for atleast 2 weeks before flying and get good hydration and coffee to treat the headache.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
