Is Grapefruit Causing Brown Stools With Pink Splotches?

I believe I had gallstones, due to the similar symptoms described by many on various internet sites. I managed to relieve some the symptoms, such as drinking 2 sips of water and feeling like it was sitting right in my throat, by eating grapefruit (2 - 4 day) and then eating cheese (with fat) to stimulate bile production. Now I m having painful, crampy bowel movements that result in feces that s brown (almost like a child s brown poo) with pink splotches throughout. Is this the grapefuit? What s going on? Will the pain subside anytime soon?

Hi,

Yes, it is because of the grape fruits you are taking. Right now, you can take antispasmodic tablets to ease your pain like Buscopan tablets.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
