Is Having A Reddish Polyp In The Tonsil While Having A Sore Throat, Bumps In The Ear Area, Sharp Pain In The Jaw A Matter Of Concern?
Hello I am currently sick my whole body aches and I maybe have a slight fever but not too bad and tonsils are sore but I took Advil and drinking tea and going to eat soup. However, I found a polyp on my right tonsil. It hurts more than my left tonsil and my left tonsil is bigger than the one with the polyp. Should I be worried about the polyp? It looks like a light reddish color the same as my tonsil. It's been there for months. I have running nose and my ears just feel sore and i have stuff in it but don't hurt. I occasionally get little bumps on my ear lobes and next to my ear areas. My right side of my jaw is experiencing a sharp pain but not all the time. My tongue does have red spots but not noticeable. Thank you hope you can answer.

Is Having A Reddish Polyp In The Tonsil While Having A Sore Throat, Bumps In The Ear Area, Sharp Pain In The Jaw A Matter Of Concern?
Hello Welcome in H.C.M. I have gone through your query regarding reddish polyp on enlarged tonsils and are painful with mild fever and sharp pain in the jaw. Your clinical history indicating towards chronic tonsillitis with polyp with acute exacerbation with fever. This is actually one complication of chronic tonsillitis, and now you are having acute exacerbation so you may take conservative treatment but ultimately you should plan for tonsillectomy operation to avoid further complications. At present you may take- 1- Antibiotic ( preferably broad spectrum). 2- Tab Paracetamol. 3- Warm saline gargling. 4- Decongestant. This above will give you relief but ultimately tonsillectomy will cure you and for that you should consult your ENT doctor. Regards.
