Is Having Sharp Pains In Chest Post Trauma A Cause For Concern?
I have been having sharp pains in my chest since the death of my husband on Monday 4/13/15. I witnessed him seizuring in the car while trying to get him to the hospital. He arrested in route. Are these sharp chest pains normal or should there be concern? He died of pulmonary embolism at 47.
I can understand your concern and will do the best i can to help you.
Losing someone dear can be very stressful for anyone. This stress can be detrimental to one's health also. What you are experiencing right now is called Acute Stress Disorder or PTSD. It is a normal reaction of a person to a stressful state and can last for even a year or more but gradually settles down on its own.
However that being said chest pains are unlikely symptoms of PTSD and there is a dictm that every chest pain episode must be investigated. I suggest you to have a basic heart check up to rule out any cardiac issues. Acute stress has been implicated as a precipitating factor for heart attacks. So i suggets get it checked up. Be safe not sorry.
