Is Heavy And Long Periods Normal After Stopping Breastfeeding?

I stopped breastfeeding about 2 months ago. Then, 1 month and a week later I started a very heavy period for the first time since getting pregnant in March of 2012. It lasted for 7 days, heavy most of the time. Stopped for 11 days and is going strong again for now 2 1/2 weeks. Is this normal? I knew periods could be irregular after stopping nursing but this seems excessive.

Hi,

Welcome to healthcare magic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

It is common to have variations in cycle once in a while. Especially after breast when hormonal axis is changing over. Hence dont worry about it. If it is bothering too much please see a gynecologist for prescription to stop bleeding which is simple

Let me know if you have anymore queries.
