Is Hemangioma Causing Lower Back And Flank Area Pain?
I have weird back pain, low back, flank area, that kind of seizes up when I go from sitting to standing mostly. It also hurts when I sit in a certain position or move in a certain way. Just grabs me. It s not constant, but when it happens, I cannot move. I m paralyzed momentarily. MRI shows 1.4x0.9 cm hemangioma in l2 vertebral body. Could this really be the cause of the pain? If so, what are the least problematic treatment options? Btw, I have other cherry angiomas all over my body. Are these related?
Dear patient Hemangioma are usually asymptomatic and are incidental findings. They do not cause back pain. But a size like yours may be a reason for your back pain. Hemangioma are related and found in many parts of body. Now a days safe treatment is available for them without side effects. Best of them is feeding artery occlusion. In this procedure radioactive material is injected into the main artery upto the feeding artery of Hemangioma and hence it's occluded which leads to fibrosis of Hemangioma. It's done by intervention radiologists and you can contact one of them.
