Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
If one became addicted to large doeses of oxycotin prescribed because of pain associatied with a fracured pelvic (misdiagnosed as bone cancer), then had to take methadone to treat withdrawal symptoms, is it OK to take hydrocodone with tylenol 3 years later without becoming addicted again?
As you had a bone fracture which was misdiagnosed with bone cancer and on a medication for long it is not advisable. As medication should be utilized only when the pain is unbearable. also, too much medication will lead to kidney damage and I fear the physician will take a chance.
Physical therapy is a parallel treatment for reducing pain and majority of patients in my clinical practice have been helped. I wish you the same from you.
