Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my daughter is looking at the implanon for birth control. she is not able to take bc pill due to blood disorder which has resulted in pe s previously. she is concerned about this method --- when removed will all the normal processes, ability to get pregnant, begin again.
Her ability to conceive would return to its normal state if she chooses to remove the implanon. It would not have a permanent effect on her fertility.
In terms of the clotting, implanon is a progesin only contraceptive . These are associated with a much lower risk of clot formation compared to estrogen contained contraception.
She may want to discuss her concerns with her doctor
I hope this helps
