Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor ........I have been taking 10mg lipitor for dislipaediemia since last 2-3 years.........Now my doctor suggest to increase the dose to 40mg........now my LDL is 157 total chol..250........I m bit worried of increasing dose such rapidly......pls advise
I read your question carefully and understand your concern.
I would like to explain that the only concern about raising its dose is its adverse effects like muscle cramps and fatigue.
I would recommend to increase slowly the dose of lipitor in some days, in order to avoid these possible side effects.
If you feel fatigue, or muscular cramps while raising the dose, I recommend consulting with your GP and perform a routine blood test, liver function tests and CPK (muscle enzymes).
Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Iliri
