Is Intermittent Hiccups And Cough Linked To UTI?
Good morning,
My daughter was diagnosed with her first UTI 2 days ago. She is 2.5 years old and has never had any issues like this before. She has had a terrible cough for about 5 days now and for the last two weeks has had hiccups off and on. My question is if you think that there is any relation between these symptoms. She has a follow up ultrasound in a couple of weeks for her kidneys. Thank you for your help.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Females, especially children have increased risk of UTI.
2. Cough and hiccups are not related to urinary tract infection. Possible reduced water intake or bad hygiene can act as causative factors.
3. Renal anomalies, if present will show recurrent UTI. Get a follow up ultrasound to look for any abnormalities. I can assure you the symptoms and UTI are not related.
