Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had my annual woman s exam today and my ob/gyn noticed I had an inverted nipple. I have notice it before but did not think anything about it. When I made my appointment for a diagnostic mammogram, the scheduler said it could be a sign of breast cancer. The cancer could be eating the tissue under the mammogram. What other things could it be. I an 62 and I think this happened within the last year.
10 to 20 percent of ladies will have flat or inverted nipple. If you can press and squeeze the black areola and see, the nipple will come up. If not suspect an inverted nipple. See if both sides are inverted or one side? Suddenly if it goes inverted, inform your doctor and rule out cancer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. C. Elanchezhian, General & Family Physician
