Is It Advisable To Take Tramadol And Cymbalta Together?

Hi, Yesterday a pain specialist that I saw noticed that my family doctor prescribed both Tramadol and Cymbalta. I have been taking both together for about 1 1/2 years. He insisted that I stop the Cymbalta immediately. He said among a whole list of side effects it could also be fatal. What are your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Yes, he is right. Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and tramadol should not be taken together.
They compound their effects and can result in seizures, hallucinations, drastic changes in blood pressure which can occasionally turn fatal.

If you have experienced any symptoms, it is good but of not continue to take it together.
Please consult your physician for alternate medications.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health.
