Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Apt To Take Famotidine And Dexilant For Gastritis?
I was diagnosed with gastritis...taking Dexilent for 2 30 day refills, then I switched to famotidine 20 mg for acid relief but noted that the Dexilent had lanzoprole in it and worked very well (60mg delayed release tabs).however was very expensive with no generic, so wanted to switch to a lower dosage pill. however many of the acid reducer pills have only a 14 day dosage , but the famotidine 20 mg has no restriction. Which is better to take for my acid problem?
Thank you so much for trusting us with your health query.
I am so sorry to hear about this acid problem. I will suggest that you go with a convenient and cheaper one. If famotidine can take care of the problem as well as lansoprazole, then I will advice you go with it because of the financial advantage. In any case, these drugs are equally safe.
also, talk with your doctor on the duration of this treatment. These drugs should not be taken for life as many tend to do without a clear indication for.
I hope you find this helpful. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for more information if need. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD.
