hello....positive mantoux test is not confirmatory for active TB,a large proportion of the population worldwide will have a positive mantoux test indicating just a prior exposure to M.tuberculosis. A reliable test would be Z-N staining followed by microscopy for active tuberculosis together with or without some clinical symptoms of TB. thanx.

Positive mantoux talk about your immune status to Mycobacterium TB.For all clinical purposes we consider Mantoux positive as present or previous infection.
However now a days advanced methods like IgM TB , pcr are available to specifically confirm TB.Apart from all the tests , the symptom presentation is the most important and deciding criteria. I advise you to visit your Physician and request for these tests .

hello,dis is sneha dis side.thanx for ur information.i would like to discuss more abt my condition.i have low grade fever till 99.4 from past 1 week.and i also feel very low energy.my hb is 9.1 and my esr is 81...my chest x-ray and body ct scan are normal.but i am suffering from severe stomach trouble.doctors are not able to diagnose what is the problem..but my recent condition is low grade fever and high esr and mountox positive.doctor has said to start ATT medicine.plz give me ur email id so that i can talk on my conition more as a m going through really bad condition.thank u so much.
