Is It Good To Keep Moving The Strained Tendon Or Muscle Above The Knee ?

Hi Dr., I have strained a tendon or muscle just above knee ion the back of leg. I dont have insurance so I am just coping with the pain which is better during the day but severe in morning for awhile. I am taking a muscle relaxer and another for pain (same as aleve) that was prescribed to me. I'm worried it could get worse if I try to work now. I'm not on any strong pain killer so if it doesn't hurt much to work do you think I will cause more damage or is it good for me to keep moving? Also from what I'm saying, how bad do you think my injury is?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi
If you are confirmed that it is just a strain of muscle then you should wear knee brace and ice application along with mild analgesics for 1wk and should walk non weight bearing on the affected limb.
And if you are not sure plz get x ray to rule out fracture and ultrasonography to rule out muscle tear.
Then consult orthopaedic surgeon.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
