Is It Necessary To Have Tetanus Shot For Puncture Wound In Children?

My 8 year old daughter who is up To date on her shots stepped on a small rusty wire tonight in our backyard. We recently had a patio built and the wire was no doubt left behind from the construction. The tip Of the wire stuck into her foot. We were able to remove it and clean it with anti bacterial soap. We then used neosporin and covered it with a band aid. Since she is up to date on her shots would she need a tetanus shot?

Thank you for the question.I understood your concern.Usually Tetanus toxoid is advised with in 6 hrs after the injury.The effect of the dose will last for five years .If you had last dose of Tetanus toxoid with in past 5 yrs there is no need of fresh Tetanus toxoid.Hope this clarifies
