Is It Necessary To Undergo A Biopsy While PSA Being 5.3?

PSA 5.3 Doctor wants to do a biopsy. I have had very bad experiences with doctors. Lied to many times. Given medications I am allergic to and other things. Main deal. If the biopsy is hurting really bad I plan on getting off the table; no excuses. Whats the worst that will happen by stopping the biopsy?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Biopsy is a procedure where a small bit of tissue is removed and examined microscopically to look for any abnormality.
You have not specified the site of biopsy.
I assume that the site of biopsy is the prostate since the PSA level is 5.3.
In health, the PSA level is less than 4 ng/mL.
The PSA level is slightly elevated so your doctor may have ordered for a biopsy.
You can tell your doctor regarding drug allergy so that the particular drug against which you are allergic can be avoided.
The biopsy procedure requires only local anesthesia.
The procedure is safe and takes few minutes only.
You can safely consult your doctor for biopsy without much apprehension.
The procedure is quite safe.

Thanks and take care
