Is It Normal For A 67 Year Old To Throw Up After Having Bactrim For UTI?
My husband has a UTI and was prescribed Bactrim and Pyridium two days ago. The first day he threw up after taking the Pyridium. Since, he has been lethargic, weak, unsteady, and doesn't have an appetite. He took the Bactrim tonight and 2 hours later got nauseated and threw up clear liquid. He isn't having anymore pain, but is still urination every 15-30 minutes. Is this normal for a 67 year old male?
Since he vomited 2 hours after using the bactrim , it would've had time to be absorbed in the body. It can take a 3 to 4 days for the medication to start showing a definite effect though he should start seeing minor improvements prior to that.
If there is no improvement at all in his symptoms, then he may want to consult his doctor. It is possible that the bacteria causing the infection is resistant to the antibiotic choose. Urine may have to be re sent to the lab for analysis.
I hope this helps
