Is It Normal For A Pregnant Lady To Have Breathing Problems While Trying To Sleep?

Hi I am 36 weeks pregnant & for the past 2 nights I have just been drifting off to sleep when I wake struggling to catch my breath. As soon as I sit up and take a drink I'm fine again but i am too scared too sleep now. Is this normal & why is this happening?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
During pregnancy especially in third trimester whole abdomen is occupied by fetus & diaphragm is pushed upwards.
So it is normal to have difficulty in breathing while lying down during last trimester.
