Is It Normal For An Infant To Become Hot When He Is Hyperactive?

Hello. I have an infant who just turned 4 months old. He is currently over 15 pounds and was born a few weeks early. His mother had preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. There are times at night he gets really hyper-active (loots of drooling, frequent movement of arms and legs, and has cold sweats around his arms and legs), also his head and back tend to get very hot at the same time. This is my first child and was inquiring to see if this is normal. His checkups have been fine, it was recently he has gotten this hyper. We believe he may also be teething. Monday, we will call our local pediatrics in the mean time.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. You should be worried but not too much. Infants need to be moved constantly and may seem hot after movements. You should take temperature when child calms down or 1 hour after meal. Centre of temperature in hypothalamus is not stable.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing your baby good health.
