Is It Normal For Stomach To Bloat After Undergoing Compression Of Fractures Due To Osteoporosis?
I have osteoporosis and have lost 2 inches in height due to 7 compression fractures of the spine . I have put on weight but my stomach is extremely bloated , I look the same as I did when I was 6 months pregnant ! can you tell me if this is just due to the osteoporosis?
Hi, Osteoporosis only affects the bone leading to reduced bone mineral density. You have multiple fractures in spine leading to reduced height. Hope you are on treatment. Biphosphonates is the initial choice of therapy, and one of the commonest is gastro esophageal irritation, which can lead to you bloated stomach feeling. However, your weight gain could also have contributed to it. If you are not on medication, osteoporosis could not have caused. If you are, it could be a possible side effect and you need to discuss with your doctor. You can try mild to moderate physical exercise with nutritious diet to help you in reducing weight. If you have any further queries, happy to help again.
