Is It Normal To Cough Up Yellow. Brown Mucus After Tonsillectomy?
I had a tonsillectomy on Tuesday. Beginning that night I began to periodically cough up yellow/Brown mucus. It has not caused bleeding in my throat, and the cough feels as though it comes from my chest (tickling sensation).I was wondering if this is somewhat normal (perhaps a result of the anaesthesia?) Or something to worry about.
I have gone through your query regarding cough with yellow / brown sputum after tonsillectomy operation.
Here I would like to tell you that mostly tonsil surgery is done under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. Sometimes endotracheal tube gives rise to irritation in vocal cords and thus cough develops in post operative phase.
This is not any serious matter and may be solved by additing steam inhalation and some cough sedative preprations.
Regards.
