Is It Normal To Drain The Sebaceous Ear Lobe Cyst Under Local Anaesthesia As I Was Suggested For A General Anaesthesia?

My 3 year old had a sebaceous earlobe cyst. It was very painful and draining. Today I took him to the doctor and the doctor said he needed to drain it. Instead he had my son held down and proceeded to cut it out. He had told me a few months ago he would refer me to someone to have it taken out under general anesthesia. Is it normal to do it under local?

Hi,
I have gone through your query.
Your 3 year old need operated under sedation with local anaesthesia i.e. short GA without endotracheal tube insertion according to me and drain the cyst as early as possible to prevent the further infection such as perichonditis.

Wish her/his good health
