Is It Normal To Feel Fatigued While Suffering From Shingles?
I was diagnosed with Shingles 17 days ago , affected areas ( eye, ear, head, neck), I’m still feeling very exhausted and I can’t sleep, and I still feel like my head is burning and stinging... I want to go back to work but I don’t think I will be able to stand for 12h...
It’s normal to still feel like this at this phase?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Unfortunately shingles symptoms may last even for months due to post-herpetic neuralgia (after the rash disappears, nerve pain remains in some patients). In some patients the symptoms resolve completely within a few weeks. We can't predict who will be fine in a few weeks and who will need months to get better. 17 days is not enough time to get rid of it, so these symptoms are expected.
My best wishes for a fast recovery!
