Is It Normal To Have A Foot Swollen With A Fractured Toe?
Hi, I recently fractured my little toe and also ripped the skin between it. I had to get stitches to close the wound, then my broken toe was buddy-taped to another toe.
My concern is, it has been six days and my entire foot is kind of swollen to the point where I can't see the veins or anything. Is this normal? What should I do?
Hi I think swelling aftee fracture is normal but there should not be excessive swelling which would cause compartment syndrome of your foot. I think you should wear a below knee slab and keep your leg elevated and should do non weight bearing on affected limb. If after a day or two swelling does not subside you should consult your orthopaedic surgeon for other fracture or compartment syndrome. Get well soon. Thank you.
