Is It Normal To Have Abdominal Swelling After Taking Mifeprex?
I just took the medical abortion pill (mifeprex) two days ago. I have bleeding and cramping like I was told I would... All of a sudden tonight, which is the third night after taking the pill, my lower abdomen is rather swollen. I was 8 weeks pregnant when given the pill by the doctor and honestly now I look like I m 3-4 months pregnant. It s extremely noticeable. Is this normal to have such swelling? If so, how long will it take to subdue? It even feels like my lower back by my hips is swollen too.
Hello dear Understand your concern Following are the cause of the swelling after taking mifeprix. Gas and indigestion: It is due to side effects of tablet. Will disappear in 5-6 days. Take dizene, exercise like walking, take small frequent meal rather than large meal, avoid spicy and salty food.
Hormonal dysfunction: due to pregnancy hormone and stress that release cortisol which increased fat accumulation and lead to abdominal swelling. It will take time to resolve. Do regular exercise and avoid fatty food.
Retain product or abnormal development of pregnancy: If product will remain inside can also cause abdominal swelling. Go for USG for confirmation and if found go for D & C. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr, Sagar
