Is It Normal To Have Hallucinations After Fracturing Femurs?
My mother fell and fractured both femurs condyle, they couldn t put casts on her legs but they put braces to keep them stable. She has a UTI and is currently in a nursing rehab facility and is experiencing hallicunations she is a type 2 diabetic and this is not normal for her
Infections are a source of stress to the body as it attempts to fight it off. In stressful situations such as these , the blood sugar level can rise.
It is possible that the urinary tract infection that she is currently being treated for is causing increased blood sugars. This increase, in addition to any electrolyte abnormalities that may occur with the infection can result in temporary confusion.
Normally , when the infection and any other acute abnormalities are treated, the person's mental status returns to normal.
I hope this helps
