Is It Normal To Have Headaches After Medical Termination Of Pregnancy ?
Dear Doctor, I had medical termination of pregnancy a week back. Since the past 2-3 days, I have been experiencing severe headaches, with barely any relief from the painkillers. Is this a normal occurence? what should I take for these unbearable headaches??
In my experience headaches can occur after medical abortion and may last for 4-5 days. I would suggest that you use ice compresses on your forehead and drink herbal teas to relax. Rest as much as possible and try to get a massage one. If you continue having these headaches, which are triggered by noise or light or any other factor, are in specific regions of your head like temples, causes nausea, vomiting or blurred vision, it could be a migraine. In that case get an appointment with your physician to get the appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Hiba Tehrim, General & Family Physician
