Is It Normal To Have Heart Rate Of 98bpm For A Child?

I was wondering if 98 beats per minute resting heart rate is normal for a 5 year old boy. He woke up this morning complaining of sore legs and that his heartbeat was fast. I listened and it was beating really fast, like he d just been running around and he had only been sleeping. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dear Ma'm/Sir
Thanks for your query to HCM.
The heart rate of 98 can be totally normal for a kid of 5 years. Our heart rate increases with physical and mental stress. Both awakening from sleep and sore leg can cause heart rate to rise. You must see your GP if there are other signs of illness like persistent soreness of legs, shortness of breath, fever, loss of well being, inattentiveness or relative lethargy or even if you feel that child is not his normal self.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
