Is It Normal To Have Pain While Anal Sex After Hemorrhoid Surgery?

I am gay and went trough hemorrhoid surgery 4 months ago. Just tried to have anal sex yesterday for the first time with my partner but with enough pain that I had to stop. No bleeding. Is that normal? How long do I have to wait. Anything I can do to make it easier?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Whether male or female, anal surgery related to hemorrhoids can lead to some scarring and narrowing of the area around the anus. We see the same problem with women who have had vaginal surgery with slight narrowing of the vaginal opening related to scar tissue and subsequent pain with intercourse. This is worth discussing with your doctor as the last thing that you want to produce are non-healing anal fissures.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
