Is It Normal To Have Prolonged Bleeding After Abortion With Medication?
please help. I had an abortion with medication at 9 weeks, which didnt complete, was prescribed more medication (which made me feel very sick) 2 weeks later. However it turns out there was tissue lining left in my cervix- I bled for 6 weeks straight. finally i had an operation 2 weeks ago to finsh this process. I am feeling increasingly exhausted-- especially in the last week. what is going on, and is this normal? thank yous o much
Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. At 9 weeks, a lot of times, medical abortion is not sufficient to cause total abortion. Surgical abortion is invariably required. Having bled continuously for 6 weeks would leave you feeling exhausted. THis is because you would be at risk for developing Anaemia, due to heavy blood loss. It is normal to experience such exhaustion and weakness due to blood loss. Please get your haemoglobin levels checked, and take iron supplements if required. You would need to rest and eat sensibly meanwhile. Also have a follow up scan to confirm that the uterus is now empty. Take care.
