Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a Mantoux test just over 3 months ago and was positive. Further tests showed that I had tb in my body but its not active at the moment. I have my 3 month check up next week. I still have the reaction in my arm and it now looks like a scar. Is this normal? Thank you scar. Is this normal? Thank you
I am so sorry too hear about this reported scar. It is very possible to develop a scar after a mantoux test and more so if the body system has problems with healing. What tests are you going in for next week? Another Mantoux? A positive test does not need repeats because they would always be positive. What we do is rather provide a 9month course of isoniazide should we be very worried about this.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarification should need be. Dr. Ditah, MD.
