Is It Normal To Have Smaller Pupil In An Irritated And Infected Eye?

My right eye is very red and irritated almost like pink eye but I thinks it an abrasion from contacts, my husband noticed my right pupil is a little smaller, that's the red eye...it's really got me anxious. Is this normal to have the pupil smaller in an irritated or infected eye ?
