Is It Normal To Have Swelling On Foot In The Area Of Biopsy?

Yes, I had a shaved biopsy done on the top of my foot. Two days later I noticed that I had discomfort, and the area was red and slightly swollen. Now four days later, and after taking really good care of the wound all of this time, it is actually sore enough that it is making my walking difficult, the red area has increased, and the swelling seems to have gotten worse. Should I be concerned, or is this the process that I am supposed to go through? Having a hard time getting a hold of my Doc for answers, hoping you can help!

Hello,

From your description it seems you have developed infection over the biopsy area which is causing swelling and pain. You must visit your primary doctor for antibiotic support.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
