Is It Normal To Lose Weight During Perimenopausal Period?

I have always had normal weight, but I started losing weight about 1 year ago. I'm now underweight. All my tests came back negative but I have hot flashes which when they happen start with a head pain. I am in peri menopause, but this is the first time I have skipped 2 periods in a row. I know it's not normal to lose weight during peri menopause and the Drs attribute it to stress. Could there be something else going on?
