Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is almost 6 yrs old (19.5kgs).he has fever since yesterday night without any cold or cough .the temp was 101.6 in the digital thermometer. I gave him 7.5 ml meftal at 9pmand again in the morning he woke up shivering at 4:00 and I gave him another dose of 7.5 meftal .is it OK to use meftal? Can I change it to p250 from the next dose
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child is suffering from high fever and you gave Meftal to child which is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and has risk of gastritis and renal problems in the long run, so avoid it for long run as your child is suffering from viral illness it will take 4-7 days to come back to normal. I would suggest you to take paracetamol as for fever only paracetamol will be sufficient as the child is responding to this drug well, normal dose is 10 mg / kg body weight. You should do cold sponging to child.Give plenty of fluids to child to maintain hydration levels. Visit Pediatrician once if symptoms keeps on worsening.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
