Is It Possible Of Irregular Periods Due To Birth Control Shot?

Hello, Last year on March I started using the birth control shot, Depo Provera and in my first shot, my period was regular and then on the second and third shot, I started to become irregular, first having occasional spotting then not having a period at all. I went to check my ovaries to see if I have poly cystic ovary syndrome and I have mild pcos tendencies so I was wondering 1. For a person without a family history of this and never had a problem before, could it be because of the shot?

Hello,

Irregular bleeding is the side effect of Depo Provera. You can develop polycystic ovarian syndrome without a family history. Consider switching to combination birth control pills to regularize periods.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
