Hi, Deanxit contains both flupentixol and melitracen that is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, various forms of mood disorders etc. Flupentixol belongs to the group of antipsychotic medications known as thiazolyl antipsychotic and melitracen belongs to the group of antidepressant medications known as tricyclic antidepressant. Again, Using of anesthetic medications while on tri or tetracyclic antidepressants like Deanxit that contains both thiazolyl antipsychotic and tricyclic antidepressant, may increase the risk of arrhythmias and hypertension in some patients. So it will be safe for patients with Deanxit to stop taking Deanxit several days before surgery, if it is possible. But in case of emergency surgery which is unavoidable, the anesthetist should be informed that the patient is on Deanxit.
