Is It Safe To Continue Running Inspite Of My Mitral Valve Regurgitation And Calcification On The Tricuspid Valve ?
I am 52 year old female and am an active runner I was just diagnosed with mitral valve regurgitation and calcification on the tricuspid valve through and echocardiogram. I have high blood pressure and take lisinopril 10 mg. Is it safe for me to continue my running, and also...what are the options I have for taking care of these to valve problems.
At first you have have your blood pressure controlled to continue running. Regarding valve problems, it depends highly on severity of regurgitation, in case of very sever regurgitation, only moderate physical activities are encouraged. If the regurgitation is mild or moderate and you don't have any complaints while running, you can continue it safely. You should control your blood pressure and cholesterol levels to prevent further calcifications of the valves.
Hope I could help you
