Is It Safe To Have The Second Shot Of Heparin Within 24 Hours?

my mother has several bloodclots and was administered heparin via injection in the hospital, she was sent home yesterday with a prescription for additional shots. she is to have them e/ 12 hours. due to misunderstanding, she did not receive the shot until 1:25 pm, and want to take the next one early so she can go to bed. is it better to skip the next shot and start again in the morning, or take the shot now at 9:30 pm

Hello

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

It is pleasure to help you at this moment

Yes, you can take this dose little earlier. But make sure not to take any 2 doses with in 8 hrs span.

It is always better to take less dose [when it is missed] than take higher doses.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards
Dr Chaithanya
