Is It Safe To Lift Weights While Having Fast Heart Rate ?
Hi I been having a fast heart rate for about 2 years now and I don t know if it s safe for me to lift weights again like I was doing before I got my fast heart rate the ER doc told me its from anxiety and I got heart palpitations so I don t know if I can lift my weights again and I don t have a doc no more to let me know if it s safe for me to lift but I had all kinds of test done on my heart everything came back fine
Hi,
Research on the benefits of weight training has discovered that lifting weights is beneficial to the cardiovascular system by reducing blood pressure, improving circulation and reducing resting heart rate, all of which helps reduce the risk of heart disease.
If your all test of heart including exercise tolerance treadmill test has come normal, you can start weight lifting. But do not overstress it. Stay away from anxiety. Still have eye on tachycardia symptoms like palpitations, lightheaded feeling etc. Continue healthy lifestyle- eat low fat ,well balanced diet, exercise regularly within your tolerance limit ,stop smoking/drinking.
