Is It Safe To Supplement Thyroid Medication With Iodine With Synthroid For A Hypothyroid Patient?

My dr does not agree with taking iodine with synthroid as it can cause me to go hyperthyroid. But you read a lot of info that taking iodine can help your thyroid if you have hypothyroidism too. I do take thyroid medication so want to know whether it is good to supplement with iodine or not?
