hi, i have spotting for 2 consecutive days, but today its all clear. my ob told me to take duphaston 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. as per my findings my baby ia weak and im now on 7weeks 2 days.. my question is, is it safe for my baby taking duphaston? is it okay eventhough spotting is there? Please help.thank you
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Duphaston contains active ingredient 'dydrogesterone', which is a synthetic hormone similar to the naturally occurring progesterone. It is used to treat a variety of conditions resulting from a lack of endogenous (naturally produced) progesterone. One of the cause for spotting in early weeks of pregnancy is due to lack of progesterone. Hence, this medication is given to continue the pregnancy further and prevent miscarriage. Kindly continue to take this medication as advised. Also increase your fluid intake and take adequate rest by avoiding physical exertion work during the next few weeks so that your pregnancy picks up. Follow-up as advised by your doctor. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
