Is It Safe To Take Norethisterone While Taking Microgynon?
I am currently on my 3rd pack of microgynon (well same pill diff name now) and have started breaking through should I take northisterone aswell should this stop the bleeding? I just need it to stop by Saturday this was the only reasons I took a third packet
Norethisterone is generally not advisable while taking combined contraceptive pill since both the drugs can increase the risk of blood clots. Kindly avoid taking both the drugs together. Once the breakthrough bleeding has started, Norethisterone may not be able to reduce the bleeding. In order to postpone the bleeding, Norethisterone is taken 3 to 5 days before the day of expected bleeding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
