Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is It Safe To Take Osteofos, Livogen And Meditrol Continuously?
I am a female of 54 years, 58 kgs., and 5 1 I was an asthmatic from my childhood and taking Seraflo 500mg. capsule once a day, Envas 5mg. and Amlong 5mg. morning and night for my blood pressure, Atovastatine10mg. per day for cholestral. Also 1 1/2 years back doctors found out that I have early stages of fatty liver and Osteophorosis too. The doctor prescribed me Osteofos 70 once a week, Livogen 1tablet daily and Meditro 0.25 daily. From one year I am taking all these drugs daily. Can you please tell me whether is it ok if I take Osteofos, Livogen and Meditrol continuously?
Livogen is an iron supplement and can be taken regularly. Meditrol and Osteofos should be taken only under your physician supervision in case of long term intake. Serum calcium and creatinine levels should be determined at 4 weeks, 3 and 6 months and at 6 monthly intervals thereafter. Regular monitoring is required to avoid long term side effects.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
