Is It Safe To Take Rexulti While On Prozac?
My Dr. recently stopped my Effexor and is putting me back on Prozac which has usually worked for me. He gave me samples of Rexulti to add to it. I have not taken the Rexulti as the side effects scare me to death. How much is known of this drug and does it in fact cause weight gain?

It is not safe to take Rexulti while on Prozac. When taken together Prozac may increase the blood levels of Rexulti resulting in increase side effects such as drowsiness, seizure, Parkinson-like symptoms, abnormal muscle movements, and low blood pressure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
You must contact your doctor immediately if you experience agitation, aggression, confusion, convulsions, muscle spasm, or abnormal movements that you can't stop or control. Also be alert to symptoms of low blood pressure such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or increased pulse or heart rate. Rexulti is known to cause weight gain in up to 30% of the patients.
