Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m pregnant iv been on roacuttane for 6 months and just found out I m 4 weeks pregnant I m stil going to take my tablets but I have sorted out dates to get an abortion. And will still take it after the abortion aswell. Will that be okay or isit dangerous still
I'm sorry for the situation you are. Roaccutane (Isotretinoin) is contraindicated before or during the pregnancy, because serious and sometimes fatal birth defects can occur if it is taken during pregnancy. You have a schedule for abortion, so it's OK to take it, unless you are allergic to any ingredient in isotretinoin or to vitamin A or you are taking tetracycline antibiotics (eg, doxycycline) or vitamin A-type medicines (eg, etretinate, vitamin A).
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions. Wishing you good health.
