Is It Safe To Take Bystolic Only On Occassions When The Palpitations Are Bad?
I am a 37 year old female. I was diagnosed with MVP 8 yrs. ago. Was taking Atenolol 10mg. but took myself off. In May my anxiety and paplitations got scary so I went to the dr. I have/had been treating myself with magnesium and theanine serene with relora. The doctor told me to continue the mag. and Theanine but also prescribed Bystolic 5mg as a backup since mvp symptoms worsen before and during menstruation. Is it safe to take Bystolic only on occassions when the palps are bad? What else can I do? I'm tired of feeling this way.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vidya KR's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Bystolic medication should be taken regularly. Should not stop medication abruptly. Interruption or abrupt discontinuation of therapy can result in myocardial infarction, ventricular arrhythmias and exacerbation of the angina pectoris. Any medications should not be changed with out doctors advice.
Dose adjustment is necessary to control your symptoms. Consult doctor for dose adjustment.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
