Is It Safe To Take Methimazole For Hot Thyroid Nodules?
Diagnosed with autonomous hot thyroid nodule - was given three choices of treatment methimazole, radioactive iodine treatment or surgery. My doc suggested methimazole to start with. He says he s had patients on this drug for THIRTY YEARS but I read it is not good too stay on this drug for long. Is this true.
You doctor has given you right suggestions. All three are the choices of treatment for hyperthyroidism depending upon patient.Generally treatment is started with methimazole and if patient is not having any complications then it can be continued for years. Surgery is advised in cases not responding to medicines. Hope i have answered your query.
